We're getting to the exciting part of our Crochet-A-Long now, as we join all our squares together! Last week we made our nine blocks.
This week we will add some borders and join our blocks into one square.
We originally anticipated that this CAL would take around 10 weeks to complete, but we've enjoyed making it so much that it's taken way less time than we thought, it now looks like we'll be completed in 5 weeks.
So, we have nine completed blocks, with all our smaller squares joined together. Take the first one, if you're following the pattern this block contains Lavender, Parchment, Silver and Bluebell, and the border will be in Lavender.
Join your yarn in a corner space, and chain 6. Treble crochet into the same space, then into each of the next 17 stitches to complete one side. In the corners do tr, ch3, tr to form the corner. Do this for the remaining sides to complete the first row of border. Repeat this row in white for the first square ONLY.
For the remaining squares complete the colour border. If following the pattern arrangement is as follows:
Once your colour borders are complete, complete the white row on the remaining squares to join them together, like we did in part 3.
You should now have 1 large square.
We'll leave it there for this week, we hope you enjoy this step as the colours start to come together. Next week we'll get to finishing touches and blocking.
Mostly blogs will be posted by Mand, what with her being the technical one. Rest assured, the other two will have contributed their opinions along the way!
