As it seems a lot of you want to join in with the Square-A-Day Challenge, we thought it would be useful if we gave a little update about how it will work.
Here's the deal, you make one square every day for the whole year. This could be 365 of the same square, or 365 different squares, or a combination of these. You can turn your squares into blankets, sweaters, cardigans, or anything else you can think of. You can choose new yarn specially for the pattern, or take advantage of some stash-buster patterns to work through yarn you already have (and make room to buy more guilt-free!)
We're each taking a slightly different approach:
Debbie is making all the squares for her first item at once. That's around 60 squares over the first two months of the year. As she nears the end of these she will choose her next pattern and yarn.
Rosie is doing seven squares a week, for seven different items, but will choose one of her seven patterns at random that day. This gives her lots of variety, and means she can tailor that day's square to her mood.
I (Mand), have chosen seven patterns for blankets, and will do a square from each every week. My patterns are varied, so all my blankets will have different end dates. This gives me variety, but also means on busier days I can do something easy and when I have lots of spare time I can do the trickier squares.
We've set up a Pinterest board with a few ideas, which you can find here: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/woolfullltd/woolfull-square-a-day-challenge-2018/
If you miss a day, you can catch up the next day, or make less squares overall, but the challenge will work best if you try to stick as close to a square a day as possible.
We have a Crochet-A-Long group over on Facebook if you'd like to join in there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1592863394058532/?source_id=1300000336781115
We'll post regular updates here, and on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Mostly blogs will be posted by Mand, what with her being the technical one. Rest assured, the other two will have contributed their opinions along the way!
